A gentle mustang with an old soul and a healing heart, who thrives on the trail and deep, quiet connection.
Cash is a Mustang with an old soul — the kind of horse who doesn’t just carry riders, but carries feelings too.
He came to Second Chance at around ten years old, likely rounded up and started much later in life than most horses. That late beginning shaped him. Cash learned the world as an adult, not a youngster, and he asks to be met with understanding, patience, and respect. He is incredibly kind, gentle, and affectionate — but like many mustangs, he requires thoughtful handling and a rider who listens as much as they ask.
Cash made one thing very clear early on: the arena was not for him. We tried, patiently and carefully, to help him adapt — but Cash refused, not out of stubbornness, but honesty. That environment didn’t suit his spirit. Once we let go of expectations and met him where he thrived, everything changed.
On the trail, Cash comes alive.
Out in open space, moving forward with purpose, Cash is confident, relaxed, and deeply present. He has beautiful collection, a steady rhythm, and an incredible sense of self-preservation. On Cash, you can soften your reins, sit back, and trust him completely. He knows where his feet are, he reads the terrain, and he takes care of his rider with quiet devotion.
But Cash’s greatest gift isn’t his movement — it’s his heart.
He is a healer. A medicine horse. When you’re carrying stress, sadness, or heaviness, Cash feels it and absorbs it, offering calm in return. If you show up guarded, he’ll wait. If you open your heart, he opens his — fully and without hesitation. Riding Cash leaves people feeling lighter, steadier, and more connected than when they started.
At Second Chance Ranch, Cash reminds us that not every horse is meant for performance or patterns. Some horses exist to teach presence, trust, and emotional honesty. Cash doesn’t ask much — just respect, openness, and the freedom of the trail. In return, he gives something rare and unforgettable: the feeling of being truly understood.
