Meet Dazzle, a steady and kind unicorn who brings confidence, magic, and calm to every ride.
Dazzle was the very first horse to ever call Second Chance home — and from the moment we saw him on Facebook, it was love at first sight. With his cremello white coat, bright blue eyes, and long white mane, he looked like something out of a fairytale. At just five years old, Dazzle arrived as a blank slate, and we started him ourselves, quickly discovering what would become his greatest joy: the trail.
From the beginning, Dazzle proved himself to be one of the most easygoing, trustworthy horses we’ve ever known. He’s smart, sure-footed, and unbothered by the world around him. On trail, he’s the kind of horse you can simply sit back and trust — he’ll pick his way carefully, stay calm, and take everything in stride. Spooky situations, new environments, water crossings — none of it rattles him. For his first few years, trail riding wasn’t just his job; it was his passion.
As he matured, we discovered another side of Dazzle: he loved to jump. Starting small, he worked his way up to comfortably jumping a meter, surprising everyone with his athleticism and willingness to try anything asked of him. Unfortunately, an injury later ended his jumping career, and Dazzle gracefully returned to what he loves most — relaxed, confident trail riding.
Over the years, Dazzle has tried just about everything: mounted shooting, mounted archery, patterns, shows, and countless adventures. He may never be the fastest or flashiest competitor, but his consistency, steadiness, and reliability make him shine, especially in novice divisions. He shows up every time, calm and confident, doing his job exactly as asked.
Dazzle is also, unapologetically, a horse who knows he’s beautiful. He adores being groomed, brushed, braided, and fussed over — tail dye, mane braids, attention of any kind is always welcome. As a younger horse, he was goofy and playful; today, he carries himself with quiet pride, a little more majestic, a little more refined, and fully aware of his “real-life unicorn” status.
At around 15.2 hands, Dazzle is a ranch favorite and a steady presence for riders of all ages, especially children. Calm, kind, and endlessly patient, he brings a sense of magic to every ride. Dazzle isn’t just the first horse of Second Chance — he’s part of its foundation, a reminder that confidence, kindness, and a little sparkle can all live in the same heart.
