Storm

Meet Storm, a kind and intuitive mare who thrives on connection, trust, and quiet confidence.

Storm is an Andalusian with a rare kind of beauty — striking on the outside, and deeply thoughtful on the inside. Soft, sensitive, and incredibly perceptive, she is a horse who forms strong, trusting connections with her riders and responds best to calm, gentle guidance. Storm listens with her whole being, offering a level of presence and sincerity that makes her truly special.

She came to Second Chance Ranch as a young gray mare, discovered almost by fate. At the time, we were exploring dressage and working equitation and had begun searching for an Andalusian — and Storm seemed to appear at exactly the right moment. Though she was described as nervous and reactive, it quickly became clear that her sensitivity wasn’t a flaw, but a strength. She was aware, engaged, and deeply tuned in to her environment and the people around her.

Like many hot-blooded horses, Storm’s confidence took time to build. She asked for patience, consistency, and trust — and once given those things, she blossomed. Over time, she grew into herself, developing confidence both on the trail and in new environments. Trail riding has become her primary job, where she enjoys exploring quietly, taking in the world with calm curiosity.

Currently, we take Storm to trail rides, barrel races and gymkhanas. She may not be the fastest horse in the arena, but she is remarkably consistent, composed, and confident — qualities that make her a joy to take out and about. In the fututre, we also want to train her in dressage and working equitation.

Storm isn’t the kind of horse who seeks constant affection, but once her trust is earned, she is deeply loyal and incredibly kind. She has proven herself time and again as a horse who takes care of her people.

Today, Storm is a ranch favorite: graceful, dependable, and quietly powerful. She is a horse who asks you to slow down, listen, and connect — and in return, she gives her whole heart.
