Midnight came to Second Chance as a yearling with big shoes to fill and an even bigger future ahead of her. A warmblood bred for jumping, she arrived with the dream of being developed carefully, thoughtfully, and correctly — and over the past four years, she has grown up entirely within our program.
Every step of Midnight’s journey has been intentional. She was started, trained, seasoned, and brought along by us, learning not just how to jump, but how to exist in the world. As a Westphalian with documented lineage and a passport, her natural talent was never in question — but maturity takes time, and Midnight has always been a horse who needed patience as much as purpose.
As a young horse, she was rambunctious, opinionated, and full of energy. It took time for her body and mind to catch up with her potential. What emerged from that process is a horse of remarkable scope and power. Midnight is an incredible jumper — slow and methodical in her approach, but capable of producing enormous, floating efforts that feel effortless when everything comes together.
Unlike many high-powered jumpers, Midnight is not hot or frantic. She is forward without being fast, bold without being reckless. She has been exposed to everything — trail rides, new environments, light gymkhana and barrel work, and early jumping competitions — all designed to make her confident, well-rounded, and mentally sound.
On the ground, Midnight is pure affection. She is often the first to meet you at the gate, eager to be chosen, eager to go. If a trailer door opens, she’s ready to load herself. She loves attention, connection, and being part of the action. Her kindness and sweetness surprise people who only see her size and power.
Under saddle, Midnight asks for respect and skill. She is not a beginner horse. When she questions something, her reactions are honest and expressive — and because she is big and powerful, those reactions can be just as big. Riders need balance, confidence, and a secure seat to guide her through uncertainty. In the right hands, she is extraordinary.
